These discs are sourced from Japan & only took one week to be delivered, which is very good going. 50GB Blu-Ray discs are usually discounted to around £10.00 each now, but these ones work out at an excellent £3.50 per disc. The best discs I have used are by TDK, & I have previously paid between £15.00-£23.00 each for them. TDK rightly have a reputation for manufacturing to the highest quality standards, but there are some manufacturers who come quite close. Verbatim are one of those manufacturers, & these are branded Verbatim discs. The write speed is 2X, which is normal for discs of this type. A set of 10 TDK discs was beyond my means: I needed comparable performance, but at a much lower price. I had a high trust level in Verbatim discs from past experiences with their DVD's & CD's, so I sent for this pack of 10 Blu-Ray discs. I use Blu-Ray for my backups & system images, & I can report that the Verbatim discs work as well as my TDK discs in this regard. They format easily & record without drop-outs or any other problems. I have two LG burner decks & they are totally compatible with the Verbatim discs, with predictable erase times & good seek times. One of the decks is USB2/SATA2, & the other SATA3. The 2X write speed is always going to be the limiting factor, but, as 2X is the norm at present, both burner decks take around the same time to write to the discs. The label states that the discs are also capable of video storage, but I can't comment on that yet. Judging by past experience & present performance, I would be surprised if anyone had any issues with this claim. I would recommended the Verbatim discs at non-discounted prices, but they really are a good bargain at this price. (MAY 2013) Since writing this review in March, I have been very impressed with these discs. I have re-written to them many times & they are now used as my primary backup discs, relegating my TDK's to other tasks. I have just ordered another set of 10 from the same Japanese vendor (JP-BUY). I am now awaiting my third pack of these discs. One of my expensive TDK's has decided not to work any more, but the Verbatim discs are taking all the work I throw at them. I have just purchased a Blu-Ray R-W/HDD Freeview recorder & the Verbatim discs are now in constant use between the new recorder & my PC. The value is just incredible.

I bought these discs for video. Tried them in two different bluray DL writers (one being an LG) and for the life of me I cant format the discs. Frustrating.

I found I could depend on these, unlike other brands. No throw-aways.

Although the write speed is low,its still good value for money as a means for keeping a reliable backup for large amount of data or for videos. As its re-writable, update can be made easier without wasting the old disc.

Tried these after had 2 / 10 fail with some Ritek discs - these wrote 10 / 10 copies so obviously an improvement. Quick delivery - why not 5 stars? The price of course!

50 gb BD-RE which can be written with two time speed. My LG blu ray writer works fine with them and they are rewriteble which saves a lot of cost. Perfect Verbatim quality, though expensive they are worth all the money! For smaller Blu rays i use BD-R 25 but everything which is bigger than that needs 50 gb discs.Maybe there are cheaper ones but Verbatim speaks for quality! Totally recommended!
